For the next month, I have a series of Mini Demo's (1-5 minutes) that I will be sharing over on my YouTube channel. Have you tried any of the techniques? I would love to hear about it!

These inks are crazy fun!
It's like you get to go back to your childhood, where there are no rules for making art, no right and wrong, no definite results required...you can just play! :) Today, I want to share with you the WHY? behind alcohol inks for me. Hello, Creative Peeps!I wanted to drop in today and share a bit of inspiration! I've been watching the 2016 Rio Olympics, like sooo many other people right now! I mean, the Olympics only come around once every 4 years! I want to take it all in! I'm completely inspired by the athleticism, artistry, and unity that I see in the Olympics :) Being an artist, I'm going to share a bit of art-spiration! I have to admit, I wan't thinking about the artistry, the design, the colors of the 2016 Olympics at first. I watched off & on, catching different events, from volleyball, to soccer, to wrestling. I was focussed on the athletes...the heart, soul, and dedication that they must have. I first noticed it when I saw the hurdles! The coloful, vibrant, swirling hues of the hurdles. I thought, wow! I love this color palettte. It's full of energy and vibrancy, and it represents the Olympics so well.
Naturally, I had to paint with this palette! Hey, Creative Peeps!I'm off to the lake with my family this weekend. Before I left, I want to share with you my 2nd attempt at color field paintings, inspired by Mark Rothko.
If you would like to see the video, just click over to my website or my YouTube channel :) Hey, Creatives! :)
The summer is flying by here in Houston, and it has been SUPER HOT!
So, what do you do in the sweltering heat? Stay inside and Make Art, of course! Lately, I have been totally inspired to get in my studio and create and play with my new Gelli Plate by Gelli Arts. I have only used it a few times now, but it is so, so much fun :) You may be wondering why my title says, Inspired by Rothko, and here I am talking about Gelli Plate printing. Don't worry, I'm getting to that! Hi there Creativity Seekers! I hope you are well! I have been away from the blog for a while, and YouTube, too. I've spent a lot of time prepping for my teaching gig at Michaels. It's been a lot of work + a lot of fun. Now, I'm caught up with it, and the ball is rolling. To see my calendar of classes, click here. I've also been in my planning phase -- STILL! I know, it's March, but for me, planning seems to be a contunual thing. I have sooo many ideas, it takes time to get them organized, prioritized, and narrowed down. And, last but, not least, I have been making art :) My latest experimental foray is in the world of whimsical faces. I've been practicing drawing almost every day. If you follow me on FB or IG. or even on Pinterest, you have seen some of my practice drawings! I started out by practicing with pencil and charcoal. Most of these lovely ladies took about 2 hours or more to draw. I enjoy it, but it takes a chunk of time! I am happy to say that I am making a ton of progress. Some of my faces have quite literally turned into pumpkins, but most are not so bad. I am trying to let go of making them completerly realistic or perfect. I know myself well enough to know that won't work for me! They are meant to be beautiful, whimsical, quirky, imperfect, and very expressive faces. :) In my quest to incorporate a more abstract, less perfect style into my faces, I've been trying different types of pencils, markers, etc.
On a whim, I decided to try some crazy multi-color pencils that I have in my stash. BEST WHIM EVER!! (ok, maybe not best ever, but definitely a good one!) I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! Click "Read More" to continue >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hi, Beautiful People!
I hope you had an amazing holiday season. I had a very relaxing break. In fact, it's been a little hard to get back into the swing of things after 2 weeks off! I spent my time with my family, playing board games and video games, working on a puzzle with my daughter, playing The Sims 4 Get Together...and just generally being lazy. It was great! Oh, we also saw Star Wars: The Force Awakens! (I've revealed my geek-ness!) And, I made a little art :)
Now, everyone is gearing up for the new year. Planning is in full bloom! Starting the new year off with intention is very important to me. It may be better to plan in October/November for the next year, but I always find myself doing it in January! I'm not sure that it's procrastination..I think it's more that I am caught up in the busy-ness of fall, so planning has to wait.
I want to share a few things I'm working on in art + life :) This year, I am involved in two groups -- Creative Sandbox &
I'm also working toward teaching local art classes, which is a continuation from 2015. And, I'm exploring YouTube as a means of sharing my love of art, experimenting, and teaching.
There are a lot of moving parts, and I'm not sure how it will all fit together, yet! One thing I'm sure of, it is going to be a great year! So, read on to get a peek into the life of an artist :)
