Hiya!
I hope all is well with you! I'm well :) In fact, I'm super excited about teaching my upcoming class, Watercolor Basics Workshop: A deep dive into the concepts, techniques, and skills you need to get started with watercolor! The Live Sessions will be October 1-10, 2020! If you are interested in learning more, follow this link. :) I put together a video for you to let you know how it will work! I also share a little bit about my own watercolor journey. Hiya!
I hope you are well! Do you ever have those days where you want to do something creative, but you don't know what...so, you end up doing nothing. I feel you! I have those days... Sometimes, just making one single mark can get the ball rolling! Sometimes, playing around with color can create the spark that gets me going. Sometimes, I just need to let it go, and not pressure myself. While I ABSOLUTELY LOVE making art and doing creative things, I also have come to know that I can't be in that zone all the time! In fact, I don't believe people have to make art every day to make progress! I know! It seems like no one ever says that!! I always hear people saying, "Make art every day." And I wonder, do they? The truth is, life is life, and it can get in the way of our art practice. And, while I may want to be in my studio creating, I can't always do it. I'm sharing this because I want you to know, that it's OKAY to NOT make art every day. Putting that kind of pressure on your art practice may not always be the best thing. I want to encourage you to give yourself permission to skip days. I'll say that again - You have permission to skip art days! The main thing is this - don't skip them all! Keep picking up that pencil, those paints, keep creating. Make space for your art in your life, but give yourself grace to skip it when you need to - with no judgement. Being human is ok. :) This is not the post I intended to write today, but it is what came out. I hope you find it encouraging, uplifting, even freeing. :) In my art community, our theme for the month is abstract florals. I thought you might like to see a livestream demo. I didn't finish the painting in the demo, but I will share the finished photo here :) Happy Weekend!
Who doesn't love beautiful corals, teals, and complex greens in watercolor? I know these are some of my favorite colors, but they are not easy to find straight from the tube. So, I thought you would like a free lesson from my new class, Loose & Sketchy Abstract Florals, showing exactly how I mix these colors! If you decide you want to take the whole class, and paint some lovely, sketchy flowers, then you can save 15%, when you use the code: SAVE15FLORAL Enjoy :) Jess P. S. I am teaching a LIVE online beginner watercolor workshop at the start of October! 'm super excited! It's a crash course in getting started with watercolor. I'll cover all the basics, including paint, paper, and brush recommendations, setting up your watercolor palette, teaching you how to move your paint from pan, to palette to paper, along with water control, brush control, washes, techniques such as lifting, etc. I will teach all the lessons as Facebook lives in a private group just for the class. And, we can have Zoom Q&A, too. Once the class is done, the lessons will be added to my classroom, so students can have lifetime access. So..I didn't mean to get into all the details here! I think you can tell how excited I am. It will be my first Live online class. Yay!! I'll get the pre-order link to you soon!! Heya, wonderful creative! I hope you are well! It's September, and that means it's my Birthday month!! ...er ...that means, it's time for another Art Exploration Color Challenge!! Before I get to that, I want to share a little something that I have in the works. I'm putting together an online Live workshop to teach basic watercolors! The class is designed to cover the absolute basics of watercolor - an introduction to watercolor painting. I'll be covering all the things...ALL THE THINGS...you need to get started painting with watercolor including answering questions that most beginners have. I'll be sharing how to choose your supplies, setting up a watercolor palette, understanding paint to water ratios, basic washes, and more! I'm super excited to put this class together. It's going to be a fantastic resource for anyone who wants to get a jumpstart with watercolor painting. Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming pre-registration! Ok, onward and upward! I hope you enjoy the color study and tutorial I've created for you. You can find it in my classroom here: Art Exploration Resource Library
The videos for the resource library are also available on YouTube after being published in the classroom, and if you are part of our lovely facebook group, you get to see them first! |
