Hiya! I hope you are well! Do you ever have those days where you want to do something creative, but you don't know what...so, you end up doing nothing. I feel you! I have those days... Sometimes, just making one single mark can get the ball rolling! Sometimes, playing around with color can create the spark that gets me going. Sometimes, I just need to let it go, and not pressure myself. While I ABSOLUTELY LOVE making art and doing creative things, I also have come to know that I can't be in that zone all the time! In fact, I don't believe people have to make art every day to make progress! I know! It seems like no one ever says that!! I always hear people saying, "Make art every day." And I wonder, do they? The truth is, life is life, and it can get in the way of our art practice. And, while I may want to be in my studio creating, I can't always do it. I'm sharing this because I want you to know, that it's OKAY to NOT make art every day. Putting that kind of pressure on your art practice may not always be the best thing. I want to encourage you to give yourself permission to skip days. I'll say that again - You have permission to skip art days! The main thing is this - don't skip them all! Keep picking up that pencil, those paints, keep creating. Make space for your art in your life, but give yourself grace to skip it when you need to - with no judgement. Being human is ok. :) This is not the post I intended to write today, but it is what came out. I hope you find it encouraging, uplifting, even freeing. :) In my art community, our theme for the month is abstract florals. I thought you might like to see a livestream demo. I didn't finish the painting in the demo, but I will share the finished photo here :) Enjoy! Jess P. S. Did you know I'm planning a live online watercolor workshop for beginners?! Yep! I'm super excited. It's now available for pre-order. Click here to learn more. ...or keep reading.... :) I'm offering it at the SUPER LOW introductory price of $10. That's $1 per lesson! You may be wondering, Why the heck is she doing that?! Well, I'll tell you. This is an experiement for me. It will be my first time teaching a live online workshop. Don't get me wrong, everything I'm teaching in the workshop, I've taught before, but everything was pre-recorded and edited. That has been a little bit of a security blanket for me. But, there's something about this year that has been different. Maybe it's because of all the craziness that has been going on..I don't know. But, this year has turned out to be all about getting out of my comfort zone, and pushing into the next level. I've wanted to teach this class for over a year now. I've had notes, and made plans, and....well, you know how it goes. We can keep planning to do something, but unless we take action, it won't happen. So, I took the leap! I decided to try this live online class thing! It's risky - there could be tech issues, life issues, bad painting issues!! But, I totally think it's going to be worth it! It will be worth it for both of us! You see, we can connect with each other in a much more personal way with a live class. We can explore the beauty and magic of watercolor together! Over the course of 10 days, I will be teaching you everything I wish I knew when I started out with watercolor. My perspective is somewhat different because I had a strong background in acrylics and mixed media before I ever decided to even try watercolor. Plus, I love to keep things as simple as possible. Those 2 things make my approach to teaching a little non-traditional. And, honestly, I just want to have fun with my art. I want it to make me happy, and I hope that makes you happy, too. Since this is an experiment, I decided the best way to offer this to you would be to make it super affordable! And, once the live sessions of the workshop are finished, all of the lessons will go into the Color Me Creative Art Classroom so students can have lifetime access to them. If you are interested, hop over and pre-order the workshop now. It's happening in about 2 weeks, so you don't want to miss it! Click to get there. :) I know this is a long post. Thanks for sticking with me! Hugs and happy painting, Jess |
