Hello, my creative friends!
I hope you are well and enjoying August!
It's been a super busy summer! I've been spending time with my family, designing projects for Chameleon Pens, working on videos for YouTube, and I released my first class on Skillshare! Yay! It's been a fantastic summer!! In the midst of the busy-ness, there was an oasis... an amazing opportunity to take my very first art class! The wonderful Dina Wakley was in my area, and I couldn't miss it!! And, of course, I can't resist sharing that with you! I've got fun and photos galore + a complete list of my fave Dina supplies :)
Back in February, I heard that Dina Wakley was going to be teaching in my area at Scrap Shack Texas. I immediately went to their website and signed up for the Scribble class.
If you aren't familiar with Dina, she is an amazing mixed-media artist, author, teacher, art journaller, etc. She is a signature designer for Ranger Ink. I have been following her for the last several years. Check out Dina's blog...you will love her! Her style is abstract, free, vibrant, and wonderful...just what I love!
Being in her class was such a treat for me...she is one of my art heros! She is warm, friendly, and genuine!
I learned and played and laughed....it was fantastic!
And, after taking her class, I went shopping!! You can see my new Dina Wakley Media supplies in the video, or in the supply list at the bottom of this post.
On to the photos!
Dina's teaching method is to demo, then send us off to try! Her explanations are so clear and easy to follow. :)
She showed us her masking technique.
and, I tried it!
She showed us what to do, and what not to do when drawing faces.
and in color.. (I want to put a smiley face at the end of every sentence!)
She walked around and encouraged, corrected, and advised :)
Everyone had a great time!!
Seeing Dina's journal was so inspiring!! I knew I had to have a journal like hers!
And, we took selfies!
We stamped, and played, and scribbled, and made art. It was sublime.
I fell in love with the Scribble sticks!! Honestly, I am surprised by how much I like them.
I am also very surprised at how much I like the craft pages in my new journal! Look at that contrast and shine!!
I can't stop playing!! #dinainspiresme
It is my wish that you will play, too. You don't have to have these supplies..use what you have, let go of outcomes, and just play. Your heart will thank you for it!
xoxo, Jessica
